Introducing the New Era of MCI:

A Brand Rooted In Activism, Creativity, and Community

Today marks a new chapter for Mackenzie Collier Interiors. Our updated branding isn’t just a fresh coat of paint—it’s a bold, intentional statement of who we are and what we stand for. Since day one, MCI has been about more than just design. It’s been about creating spaces that feel safe, inspiring, and deeply personal. It’s been about challenging the status quo and building something that aligns with our values.

Why We Rebranded

I’ve been an activist since childhood—always fighting for the underdogs, protesting injustice, and refusing to fit into systems designed to suppress individuality. My business was born from that same rebellious spirit. I didn’t want anyone counting my vacation days or telling me to dilute my voice. I wanted to be free to be myself—an outspoken, lesbian, feminist, community-centered activist—and to build a company that embodied those values. I wanted to work with a diverse team, create visionary work, and reject fleeting design trends in favor of something deeper and more timeless.

As I watched the world around me shift—witnessing the rise of bigotry, sexism, and corporate greed—I felt an urgent need to make our brand louder, prouder, and even more intentional. This rebrand is a declaration. It’s irreverent, outspoken, yet undeniably elegant and enduring. It celebrates the very things the current establishment seeks to crush: women, diversity, and community.

The Aesthetic & Meaning Behind Our New Identity

To bring this vision to life, we collaborated with graphic designer Hillery Kemp of Wild Ideas Work, who took my Pinterest board and translated it into something tangible. (Linking to the Pinterest board here!)

Each element of our new brand is steeped in history and symbolism:

A curated color palette featuring six rich, vintage-inspired hues—each symbolizing strength, activism, adventure, and timeless design in the new MCI brand.

  • Forest Throw – Our signature army green, a color that’s been in our branding since the beginning, representing resilience and strength.

  • Candle Wax – A warm neutral inspired by the 1960s and 1970s, a period rich with women’s and civil rights activism.

  • Pool Girl – A rich aqua symbolizing travel, adventure, and the thrill of discovery.

  • Levi’s – A classic dark denim blue that carries deep historical significance. It represents the moment women defied rigid gender norms, trading restrictive skirts for trousers and eventually denim jeans. Denim is a material built for utility—ready to work hard, endure, and challenge expectations. It stands for resilience, practicality, and the refusal to be confined.

  • Lipstick – A bold red inspired by Montezuma red, the shade women in Europe wore in WWII to defiantly stand against fascism.

  • Sunflower Bed – A bright, cheerful yellow, a reminder that optimism and joy are also forms of resistance.

Our new logo is a nod to activism itself. The block print aesthetic mirrors the handmade flyers and posters of protests past. The abstract owl—a fusion of our MCI initials—symbolizes wisdom, knowledge, and intuition: distinctly feminine strengths. The fonts, reminiscent of French Metro signage, weave together art nouveau influences with a modern edge.

A bold, block-print-inspired logo with the M, C, and I forming an abstract owl—symbolizing wisdom, intuition, and the fearless creativity at the heart of MCI.

What’s Next?

This isn’t just about a new look—it’s about where we’re headed. Later this year, we’ll be launching an artist collaboration series centering on women’s perspectives and voices. Our online shop will debut, featuring a mix of home goods, merch, and vintage treasures. We’ll also be releasing workbooks designed to uplift and empower women business owners.

Through it all, our core values remain unchanged:

  1. Be inclusive and create a safe space for all.

  2. Stay open, adaptable, and committed to learning.

  3. Balance work and life with creativity and fun.

  4. Hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and excellence.

  5. Support each other and foster a joyful, collaborative environment.

  6. Innovate and lead with creativity.

  7. Dogs. (Always.)

Join the Celebration

To set the mood, we’re sharing a playlist that captures the spirit of our new brand (linking here!). This is more than a rebrand—it’s a celebration of everything we stand for. Thank you for being part of this journey. We’re just getting started.
